Addicted to Brights - Blush

I must admit that I have a problem.
I am addicted to bright blush. When I see bright blushes, no matter what the colour, I kinda go into a mild pokemon - gotta catch 'em all - phase.
Is this normal?
Yes? Good.

Onto the blushes. This post is just me rambling about bright blush, how good it looks on tanned skin, how much I love, how I want to own them all, etc.

I currently own 4 bright blushes, I owned 5, but my mother stole one.

I have Taj Mahal and Exhibit A from Nars, Frankly Scarlet and Sakura(LE) from MAC.

Exhibit A is a beautiful matte orange red, it looks scary bright and a light hand and blending skills are definite must with this blush.

Taj Mahal is an orange with old shimmer, it highlights beautifully, and catches the light in all the right places. This has got to be the best blush I will ever own. And so will you. So own it.

Frankly Scarlet is a Scarlet red - pink colour, and again its a matte. I feel I don't use this as much as I would like too, because when I think of a bright matte blush, I instantly reach for Exhibit A. Note to self - use this more.

Sakura is a Mineralize Blush and the only thing I own from that range.. Its a lavender blush with an almost magenta heart in the centre, and when you mix the two you get this very flattering mix of the two shades. which give you a blush and highlight all in one.
It's very cool toned, but sometimes, I think this really works for my skintone. Especially with a plum lip.

In other news, I couldn't resist adding these two pictures of Qoco (My adorable black persian cat). She's as much of a girl as I am, and jumped onto my bed the second I laid these out to photograph them. It took a good 30 minutes to get her off my bed and onto hers.
But I got these gems.

Excuse my cat lady tendencies, BUT LOOK AT THAT FACE.

Anyway, are you fond of bright blush?
Let me know!

Eye of the Day - A pop of colour.

I love eye make up. Well, thats all.

I also love mixing in a bit of colour to my everyday neutral eye.
So, here it is.

Buck eyeshadow from the Naked Palette in the crease.
Dancing in the Dark (LE) eyeshadow in the outer end to darken the crease.
Naked from the Naked Palette on the lid.
Chambor Dazzle Eye Pencil in 104 Teal Dazzle in the bottom lash line.
Inglot Eyeshadow in 418 Pearl over the Chambor eye pencil.
Rimmel Scandaleyes Show off Mascara.

Thats all folks!

NEW IN!

I'm always nervous about the word "haul", because it seems to get waaay too much negative attention.
SO, "Look what I got" seemed appropriate.
I like this whole Friday First concept, because it sort of allows me to talk about something I haven't tried before, well, you get the picture.

Anyway, since I haven't really done a proper "haul" post, well, ever. Here goes!

White Lace Dress - Chemistry (First time I'm actually buying something from that store by myself, I usually hate it)

Body Shop Body Butter in Strawberry. Ugh, the weather in my usually lovely humid city has been really odd lately, the sea breeze hasn't been coming in till later in the nights, so the days are dry. And my usually oily skin which is used to humidity has been really dry, hence I got the body butter instead of the Body Puree I usually get.

Body Shop Peppermint Intense Foot Rescue - Oily skin, but dry fingers and toes (yes, epitome of weird is I). This is a first time purchase for me. Thoughts coming soon.

Inglot Nail Enamel in XL3, a gorgeous glittery shade. NOTD coming soon.

MAC Face and Body Foundation in C5 - Long Story short, I've been reading non stop rave reviews, and I've really been liking the lighter foundations recently, and since its water based like my Chanel Vita Lumier Aqua, which I LOVE, I thought, while its there, go for it.

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in NC 43.5 - I needed a new powder, since I finished up my Prep + Prime setting powder as well as my Body Shop one. I've read that this is BRILLIANT for oily skin. Only time will tell.

I'm so excited for everything I got - totally worth the wait to get everything I wanted.
Did you get anything recently?

Nearly Naked.

"Naked" has been the trend for a while now. Starting with the neutral eye palettes, Naked 1, Naked 2, Naked Basics (Which I NEED to get my hands on, btw), its all about keeping it natural.

When Revlon came out with their Nearly Naked Foundation, and I saw all the rave reviews, I realized I HAD to get it.
So, I crossed my fingers, did my research and decided to go with the colour 240 Toast.
I bought this on ebay, but I can't seem to find the seller now, it was dirt cheap, somewhere around 10 pounds including the shipping (around INR 900, today, but it was 860 when I bought it)

Revlon says "Makeup so refreshingly light, it melts in, creating a fresh even look. So the only one that knows you are wearing makeup is you. Blends seamlessly, buildable coverage."

In my opinion, it holds true.
This foundation is very light coverage, it doesn't cover my acne scars, but it is also buildable, so with two layers, it covers everything that needs to be covered.
It does however even out your skin tone and gives you this very subtle dewy finish with just one layer.
Now, I have oily skin, so I need to powder my Tzone and the area under my eyes, but if you had dry skin, I reckon you can get away without any powder.

As you can see, this is a little bit too yellow for me. I'm yellow toned, but I'm more neutral yellow, you know? For reference, I'm an NC43.5 - 44.

When its blended out, it looks like that, so I can totally get away with the yellowness of it.

Especially during the sunmmer, when my skin behaves, I really enjoy using this foundation, I feel like I have nothing on my skin. Its lovely, really.

I have NO idea if they plan on launching it in India, but I hope they do.
Otherwise, if you're willing to take a risk, ebay it is!

P.S. Incase you haven't noticed, Revlon is my favorite Drugstore/Highstreet brand, followed by Rimmel.

Would you try this?

The Double Wing.

Can anyone help me with these pictures of mine?
If I change my blog template to anything but "Dynamic", my pictures get all squished.
Does anyone know why? If so, what do I DO?

Moving on with our lives, I was bored this morning. I looked in the mirror, and realized I've been wearing my eye liner the same way for 3 years now. So I thought, HEY!, let me add a second wing, at the bottom. *cue excitement inducing music*

Also, I took all these pictures in the evening, after an entire day out + a little nap. (yeah, the eye liner stayed on through my nap. You've gotta love Blacktrack).

Face - Chanel Vita Lumier Aqua B60
MAC Prep + Prime Setting Powder
Chanel Bronzer

Eyes - Naked and Buck from the UD Naked Palette
MAC's Dancing in the Dark (LE) to define crease.
MAC Blacktrack Fluidline

Lips - MAC Tendertone in Purring.

In other news, as you can see, I love piercings, do you? = P

Ruby Woo.

I love red lips. I've always loved red lips. I think there's something so effortlessly classy about red lips. Okay, moving on.
My mom and I share the same passion/obsession for Make up, and MAC in particular. So between the two of us, we have a fair amount of products. In my case, I own a ton of gel liners and paint pots, and my mom owns half their lipsticks, powders etc. We also tend to finish these rather fast. (Especially since I use their gel liner every single day). ANYWAY. We had enough stuff to Back to MAC again (Second time, first time around, I got this pinkish lipstick which she stole), since I chose last time, she said it was her turn.
We initially went to get Brick O La, but ofcourse, as fate had it, it was out of stock, which meant, it was all mine. I either wanted Russian Red or Ruby Woo. Russian red seemed to pink toned to me, so as the title suggests, I got Ruby Woo.

Oh boy, best. decision. ever.

Now, MAC describes it as a Very Matte Vivid Blue Red. Its called a retro matte.
I think this is one of those colours that will suit you no matter what your skin tone is.
I personally, LOVE that its a matte. There's nothing I hate more than shimmery lips - on me. So satins and mattes are my favorite finishes.
Since I have dry lips, I most definitely need to wear lip balm under it.
Oh, and it lasted a good 5 - 6 hours on me, without eating, ofcourse.

I love love LOVE this shade, do you?

Remington S9951 Straightener

Hi! So today, I'm going to be showing you the latest love in my life.

My Rimington S9951 Straightener.
I have wavy hair, it's actually rather pretty, it looks all beachy and messy. But I do get really bored of it. After all, grass is greener on the other side right?
I have owned one straightener before, but it was a panasonic and didn't do shit for my hair.

So, after a lot of research, I decided to splurge (a graduation gift, of sorts).
I got this here, on flipkart, because it seemed to be the cheapest there.
I placed the order on the 30th of May, it was shipped on the 3rd of June, and I received it on the 6th.
I have used it everyday since I got it, and I've got to say, wow!
I can do just about anything with this. Give my hair some structure, while keeping the waves, giving it texture or just wearing it poker straight! It does it all.
For reference, it takes about 15 minutes to get it poker straight.

Isn't it wonderfully sleek? It heats upto 230 degrees C, and can be locked at the desired temperature.

Its also reasonably lightweight and comfortable to hold.

This is the before and the after, just so you can see. Natural hair vs Straight hair. I love both.
(I always ALWAYS use a heat protectant, and you should too!)

Do you think you'll give this a try?

Face of the Day #2 - Sun Rush

This is a rather simple FOTD, its along the lines of what I wear on my face, if I'm feeling pretty that morning. (provided I leave the house).

Excuse the squint, I was staring into the sun, it hurt my eyes. Yes, I'm a creature of the dark.

Face - Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation in 240 Toast.
MAC Select Cover Up Concealer in NC44.
Soleil Tan De Chanel in 62 Terre Epice
MAC Prep + Prime Translucent Setting powder (Only to set concealer)
MAC Lusture Drops in Sun Rush (tops of cheekbones)

Eyes - MAC's Blacktrack Fluidline
Rimmel Scandaleyes Show Off Mascara

Lips - MAC's Mocha (my first ever lipstick)

What do you use when you feel pretty?

Night Out #2 - A Bold Step.

I consider myself a hermit, for sure.
But when I do go out, I go all out.

Starting with Revlon Photoready Primer (I use this very rarely, but it evens out my skintone and makes my skin super smooth)
I used my MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC43.5, this is the only foundation I own which has medium - full coverage, perfect for when your skin is acting up. Because this foundation is so perfect-ing, I don't use a concealer with it.
I then used my Chanel Bronzer and MAC's Prep + Prime translucent setting powder.
FACE DONE!

For the eyes, I decided to go a bit funky.
I own a ton of eyeshadows and bases! Mostly because I use them for a LOT of photoshoots, and hardly ever on me.
I used the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Pomegranate Pink as a base, MAC's Rani (LE) on the inner half and MAC's Oomph (LE) on the outer half and blended. Ofcourse I cannot leave my house without my winged liner, for which, as always I used Blacktrack Fluidline.
For Mascara I realized, Rimmels Lash Accelrator + Scandaleyes Show off make a brilliant combination.
I used Revlons Sugar Plum on my lips and blotted it out.

We ended up not going to the place we had initially thought of going too, because it was too crowded. Instead we went to a nice little restaurant, and chilled.

I had a lovely friday night, did you? :)

Kissable Balm Stains

Lipstains have never really suited me. As I've mentioned before, I have pretty dry lips, and stains just dry them out further. Making for a slightly disturbing sight.
So when I heard about these balm stains in the blog and youtube circuit, I had to give them a try, Lip balm + lip stain has got to be brilliant right?

Also, lets just take a minute here to admire the packaging. I LOVE it, its so compact and sleek, and I love how the tube is the same colour as the lipstick. (These fit in my wallet, which is just another plus, for me)

I have two shades in RENDEZVOUS which is an orange shade and CRUSH which is a gorgeous deep plum.
They're available at all revlon counters, and cost INR 600.

They can be worn really sheer by blotting them out, or you can make them opaque with typically two applications. They definitely DO moisturize the lips, as well as keeping the colour on, all day long!
Rendezvous lasts about 6 hours on me, after which it fades to a light stain. But its there.
Crush, on the other hand, lasts a good 8 - 10 hours on me, and then starts to fade every so lightly.
Which, if you know my history with lip products is miraculous.

I even slept with Crush by mistake (heh) and woke up to still find it on my lips.

If I were to rate these, I'd give them a 10 on 10.

What about you? Have you tried these balm stains? do you like them?

Night Out #1

Hello all.
This is my second post of the day, which is probably never going to happen again, so I'm going to rejoice while I can.
When you have so much free time, you tend to think about blogging, constantly. It's getting a little out of hand.
Anyway, on to my face.

Face - Chanel Vita Lumier Aqua in B60 (I think, its nowhere on the bottle)
Bobbi Brown Corrector in Dark Bisque
MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder, Pressed.
MAC Mineralize Blush in Sakura

Eyes - Since I've been neglecting my UD Naked Palette, I thought I'd take it for a spin, for a change, I used Toasted all over the lid, Hustle in the outer corner and crease, and Virgin in the tear duct area.
Blacktrack Fluidline
Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara + Rimmel Scandal Eyes Show off Mascara (Best mascara combination, ever)
Lips - Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle.

At first, I'd worn something rather colourful (and strapless, hence the bare-ness), which is why I stuck to the basic neutral lip, but then, I changed into this grey dress from Vera Moda, via ASOS.

This dress screamed for some colour, which is when I realized I had the PERFECT red lipstick, MAC's Prolongwear Lipcolour in Lasting Lust. (review coming soon!)

Isn't it gorgeous?
My necklace is from Forever 21, if anyone was wondering.

I had a very relaxing and chilled out evening with the family.
How was your weekend?

Lady At Play

So recently, MAC came out with their new Mineralize Rich Range of lipsticks, which I believe is now a part of their permanent range of lipsticks.
When I went into the store and realized that these lipsticks were out, I went straight to Style Surge, because I'm obsessed with Temptalia's blog, and I saw it there.
But then my eyes fell on Lady at Play, now, this was one hell of a bright, for me, someone a) barely wears lip products, and b) usually sticks to the plums and the browns.
MAC describes this colour as a "Mid-tonal cool tangerine". It seems to pink undertones, in my opinion which I usually shy away from, but this. This colour is worth it.

The texture is creamy and moisturizing, but it does tend to flake a little on me, but then, I have very dry lips (which is odd, considering my oily skin), so I need to wear lip balm underneath this, to avoid said flaking, and lasts a good 3 - 4 hours.
It dries to an almost matte like satin finish, which looks lovely and goes opaque with just one coat. Tick, tick and tick.

I wore it for my fashion show, and it made a statement alright!
I'm so glad I got this, I highly doubt I can live without this lipstick now.

The onlllyyy downside for me is the price. INR 1650 is ridonculous!
But I suppose its worth it. But only in this case.

Have you tried anything from this range? What do you think?
